The Clark Pottery

John Clark has been making functional stoneware pottery for thirty-five years, which began with a four-year apprenticeship with potter Heath Krieger of Prescott Arizona. After his apprenticeship, John moved to Santa Fe New Mexico where he established The Clark Pottery, producing utilitarian pots for everyday use, and supplying local restaurants with beautiful hand thrown tableware.
Relocating the Clark Pottery to Portland Maine in 2002, John continues to employ traditional techniques from the Asian, European, and Colonial potters of America. Their work has been the source for John’s inspiration and basis for his approach to making pots, while following the ideals of form set forth by potters Bernard Leach, and Michael Cardew.
